The Role
As Director of Catering, you will lead the hotel's catering and event sales efforts, driving revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives, client relationship management, and exceptional event execution.
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the catering sales function, including prospecting, contracting, forecasting, team leadership, and collaboration with Operations, Culinary, Banquets, and Sales teams. This role plays a critical part in achieving the hotel's overall revenue goals while delivering outstanding guest experiences.
The Director of Catering serves as a leader, mentor, and strategic partner who ensures that every event contributes to both guest satisfaction and business success.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and manage all catering sales activities to achieve or exceed revenue goals and profitability objectives.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans designed to grow catering, banquet, wedding, social, and meeting business.
- Solicit, negotiate, and secure new catering and event opportunities through proactive sales efforts.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, event planners, organizations, and community partners.
- Oversee the preparation of proposals, contracts, banquet event orders (BEOs), and other sales-related documents.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for catering and event sales team members.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews, forecasting, and revenue analysis to identify opportunities and address challenges.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales & Marketing and hotel leadership to maximize overall hotel revenue.
- Partner with Culinary, Banquets, Conference Services, and Operations teams to ensure flawless event execution.
- Conduct site tours, client meetings, and presentations to promote hotel event capabilities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify new business opportunities.
- Attend industry networking events, community functions, trade shows, and promotional activities.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, brand requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Resolve client concerns professionally and proactively to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, forecasts, and client information within the sales and event management systems.

What Makes You You
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible hotel catering, event sales, or hospitality sales experience.
- Previous leadership or management experience within catering, events, conference services, or hotel sales.
- Demonstrated success in achieving catering revenue goals and growing market share.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
